Our Impact
Smrtspace was initially commissioned to complete a store and ship space assessment for the Princess fleet. This led to a range of capital investment recommendations with high-yielding ROI forecasts. As part of this workstream, we developed a space optimisation model that reported category space performance for all ships across the full network. This was a business first for Harding+ and remains in place today for current and future commercial decision-making.
Our Client
Harding+ are the world’s #1 cruise retailer with over 90 years of experience in the industry. Harding+ partners with the biggest cruise lines in the world offering the most prestigious and exclusive brands and products as part of the overall guest experience. They operate more than 300 shops on over 100 ships across over 17 cruise line partners.
Our Approach
Smrtspace were temporarily implanted in the Design and Development function and worked with the team and associated stakeholders to influence positive change and modification in a number of key areas:
- Princess Fleet – analysed, reviewed and presented fleet space recommendations with a supporting capital investment plan
- Store surveys – we coordinated a network-wide, store space survey to gather vital category data that could inform the space modelling initiative – the survey was a business first for Harding+
- Space optimisation – development of a model that reported category space performance by ship by fleet across the whole network.
- Process review – looked closely at new store processes, tasks and activities and made recommendations for change and improvement.
- People improvements – reviewed team resources, talent and capability leading to some changes to the structure and subsequent responsibilities.
